Beautiful Reflections

The talented and super sweet "S" was back to create another masterpiece with me this spring.   Her first painting was a close up of an iris, which was amazing!  This time, she chose out a sunrise scene with water reflections as her inspiration.   Her idea allowed for her to learn different painting techniques, and resulted in an entirely different, but equally beautiful result!  Don't you just love it!?

"S" is a master blender!   The sky and water reflection of the sky were so easy for her.   We used the photo image as an idea to help with placement.   You can see it all coming together here!  She was a total pro here, and loved this aspect of the painting.

Next in were the silhouettes on the side and creating the idea of a tree line.  Another new painting technique....She nailed it!

Then "S" painted in the dock.   I had done some sketching for her, but when it came to the planks, I told her to try it out for herself.   I knew she could paint well, and wanted her to start feeling more confident with the full composition (including more sketching) this time.  I'm so proud of her for going for it!

We wrapped here today!   I was so excited to see the next step!   She had already created such a hauntingly beautiful composition!

Session 2:

Today "S" was armed with multiple shades of gray for the horizon line and reflections.   I had put in one small line for the base trunk of each tree and then she used the photograph to create her own branches.

BEAUTIFUL!

Now onto the reflections which she also put in on her own.   I loved how much ownership she can claim for this amazing painting!  I know it was a challenge, but it really paid off!  So proud of you "S"!

The last part was the bridge.   I added some gel medium to the black paint which will make the bridge look glossed.   Then she painted it in, along with the reflection.

Finally, "S" added some softness to the reflection to create a watery look....

So proud of you "S"!  Don't stop creating!  You are a natural!  I loved working with you!   And also, you'll have to let me know what you think of those other 80's movies on your checklist!   Total classics :)
