8 year old "J" and 4 year old "A" were on a mission to make a beautiful painting of Bond Falls for a grandparent Christmas gift this year! Hmmm...my first kid waterfall....another new challenge!
I like to start out with the youngest child creating a backdrop so that is exactly what "A" did! I mixed multiple colors of blues and we worked on horizontal painting across the picture. The technique created a beautiful sky!
Next my talkative little "A" moved on to the base color for the falls.....browns! I put multiple shades right on the canvas and then traced her outline so she knew where to paint. And off she goes!
Stretch it out!
And some lines for trees....
Mom said that her older brother a little concerned about her painting abilities. :) I think she nailed it!
"A" you are a cute as your painting! Thanks sweetie!
Next up was pro painter and 8 year old "J." We started with the water, playing around with his abilities...
Looks pretty messy so far, right? Just wait!
Putting in the greens...
Then adding in some fall foliage....
It was about here that "J" started hinting that it was time to call it a day! "Umm...my hand is getting tired!"
I get it, he had to dot everything!
Here's where we wrapped after the first session....but I wanted to attempt a little more of the falls.....
Time for Session 2! Prior to meeting, I took some brown and covered up some of the waves at the bottom and then blended some white to soften the bottom of the falls. You can see my edits from the picture above, now it was "J's" turn to take over and finish....
and then dab in some white for water ripples and more waves.....
VERY NICE!
This was pretty good for an 8 year old, so we left the water and moved onto some touch up in the trees.
Last finishing touches!
And the final product- a beautiful landscape created by a 4 and 8 year old. Gorgeous colors! Lovely job kiddos! Not an easy task, so both mom and I are pretty impressed with what you could do! I know it will be a great present!
The artists with their beautiful painting!
