The Sunfish

2nd born and oldest boy "J" debuted his individual painting with a sunfish!   Basing the painting on an actual image of a sunfish was challenging, but well worth his efforts!

Session 1 started out simple with a basic backdrop for the fish.   Pretty easy for this painting master!

It's a wrap today "J"!

Session 2:  Today "J" started to paint in the fish.

"J" is so full of energy and so positive!   He is also such an animated story teller!   He's in mid-story in the adorable picture above!  So glad I caught that shot!   It captures the essence of this sweet little boy!

Here I used dots to guide his fin lines....

Then we filled in the fish body with an olive shade.

After using a foam dotter to apply the eye, we wrapped for the day! Looking good "J"!

For our 3rd and final session, "J" painted in lots of lines and dots for the small details.   It is really amazing when you look at the details of fish, there is so much to them!   We simplified as best we could to create a realistic image and also keep it right in his skill level!

White lines for the fins...

Creating an idea of a translucent fin...

And the fisherman has his fish!   Excellent work "J"!

During his photo op, "J" reminded me of the "silly pose".                                                                                                                          Totally nailed it!
