Painting Happy Memories

This awesome group of three was back for painting number 2, their uncle's lake cabin.   It is right next to their grandparent's cabin which was the first painting they created.  These two homes are havens for summer fun and awesome family memories, so what great gifts to create for Christmas!   I love paintings with personal connections, and I'm sure their family will too.

I was happy to have "P" back, especially since he wasn't sure about the first session and if he would like it.  It was a success so I was glad he came back for more!  He is an excellent base man!
Our darkened sky... we were doing a dusk picture...

And filling in the house.

This was a bigger canvas to work with than his last one!

Altering shades for shadowing and depth.

The details!

You can see our roof base as "P" observes his work.

You can see our photo image here too.

The deck base...

"So would you like to work on some trees and grass?"  "No, I want to leave something for the girls."  (Also, my son was outside and ready to play.  Totally get it "P"!)

Awesome session "P"!

Just like our previous painting, I had "M" come next to add it the next level of details.
Here's "M" working on the grass.

Some shadowing...

Now the trees!

You can see my outlines for her guides for dark shades...she chose out between 2 shades at first.

I loved visiting with you "M"!  Such sweet company!

Then some branches...

Now lighter shades....LOTS to fill on this big canvas!

"M" it is looking good!

Next we moved to the windows.  We were creating a dusk scene so went with lights on in the house (using our picture for help....we used grays in areas to add the idea of the inside details. "M" just knocked this part out of the park!  I loved the results of her windows!

Lots of shading to do in this part too!

LOVING IT!

Some more trees....

Wow "M"!   That was quite a lot to do.  Impressive!  Next up was "E" for the trimwork and detailing!

Time to meet with "E" now to wrap up our painting! We started out repainting the house since I had "P" use the wrong color the first time through!  Oops!

Then "E" added in shadowing effects for the siding.

Then we started the shingles.   I think this was the point when "E" shared some fascinating fly facts with me.  Thanks "E".  I will always remember what I learned today.

I love this girl!  She is so sweet and funny!  Just like her mom!

We called it a day here and set up another meeting time to finish off the house!

See you soon!  Looking forward to the final session!

For our final session I had "E" trim out the house first.   She preferred that I edge it and she fill it in.  So we painted together for awhile.

My 7 year old son "assistant" son took this pic and many more too....

Here is what I did to help out....

Now "E" filled in all the outlines.

We had so much fun painting together, as is shown by the sheer joy in "E's" face in this photo.  ha ha!  We REALLY DID have fun together!!!!  Right "E"?????

I was so excited for this last step to really finish off the house-

What a difference trim work makes, right?

"E" filling in the deck rungs.

And the door....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!   Thanks for staying late tonight to finish it "E"!

IMPRESSIVE!!!!

Excellent job with this gift!   Next time you get to keep what you paint!   See you in the New year for your own projects! You guys are so fun to paint with! Can't wait to see you again!
